BIOGRAPHY

Imagination. Quality. Professionalism.

These are three words often associated with J. M. DeSantis and his work. Since an early age, J. M. DeSantis has shown promise and interest in the areas of writing and illustration. As a graduate of Pratt Institute, he has always been dedicated to developing his talents as a writer and illustrator, giving careful consideration to style and craft.

He is a lover of both art and literature especially works of fantasy, horror, graphic novels, history, martial arts, mythology, and texts of the Dark and Middle Ages. Specifically, the writers who inspire him most are J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, Yasumi Matsuno, H. P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Hideyuki Kikuchi, and William Shakespeare. His favorite artists are Ayami Kojima, Alan Lee, Akihiko Yoshida, John Howe, Hiroaki Samura (writing also), Drew Struzan, Mike Mignola (writing also), Gary Gianni, Frank Frazetta, and Norman Rockwell.

Recently, J. M. DeSantis has completed three jobs for the Comicbook Artists Guild, including his pencil work and character designs for the Recollections of a Commander story, featured in the their Anthology # 7. In 2007 he was awarded First Place for his painting Spirit of Manji at the 2007 Otaku University Anime Conference. As always, he has fulfilled requests for various private commissions.
